Serving on a committee is an enjoyable way to learn about the chapter, to network with others, and to make a contribution to the goals
of IAAP. Take stock of your skills and talents, match them up with a committee, and consider how you can best serve your chapter.
STANDING COMMITTEES
- Standing committees shall be composed of a chair, and one or more members.
- Appointment shall become effective at the close of the annual meeting for a term of one year.
- Standing Committees are also outlined in and governed by the chapter bylaws and standing rules.
Membership Committee
- Shall direct all activities of the chapter concerned with the recruitment and maintenance of membership.
- This committee shall notify the membership of all such applications, reinstatements and transfers.
- Responsible for follow up with guests, installation and orientation of new members, recruitment efforts and membership activities.
Program Committee
- Shall plan the programs for chapter meetings as required. Serves as liaison/host with guest speakers for monthly programs; apply for certification points/CEU points (as required) for monthly chapter meetings.
Bylaws and Standing Rules Committee
- Chaired by the President Elect.
- This committee is not too time intesive. Requires knowledge of, or willingness to learn, Chapter Bylaws and Standing Rules; also working knowledge of parliamentary procedure and Robert's Rules of Order will be helpful.
- Shall receive all suggestions for amendments and/or proposed amendments to the bylaws and standing rules of this chapter, prepare them in proper form, and submit them for action by the membership in accordance with these bylaws.
- Shall maintain conformity in chapter bylaws and standing rules with International bylaws and standing rules and the Division bylaws and standing rules.
- Shall assist the board of directors in preparing and submitting amendments to the International and/or Division bylaws and standing rules and resolutions to the International bylaws and standing rules committee on behalf of the chapter.
Committee on Nominations
- The Committee on Nominations shall consist of chairman and two members.
- The immediate past president of the chapter shall serve as chair of the Committee.
- At least eight weeks prior to the May meeting, the committee on nominations shall submit to the membership a slate of one or more candidates for each office.
- This committee will need to use some fashion of Succession Planning to identify candidates for all offices and committees.
Finance Committee
- The Finance Committee shall consist of the treasurer as chair, the ways and means committee chairman and the president as committee members.
- The committee shall prepare a budget, subject to the approval of the board of directors, by August 1 to guide the chapter in expenditures of funds.
SPECIAL COMMITTEES
- All committees shall be directly responsible to the board of directors and shall submit all plans, prior to execution, to the board of directors for approval.
- Within ten days after the conclusion of their appointment, all committees shall transfer their files to their successors or as described by the board of directors.
- Upon approval of the board of directors, the president may declare a committee chair vacant because of nonperformance of duties and appoint a successor.
Ways and Means Committee
- Primarily responsible for developing and coordinating fund raising projects for chapter. May work in conjunction with Education Committee to promote a seminar as a fundraiser.
- The chairman shall be a member of the Finance Committee which is chaired by the Treasurer.
Education & Certification Committee
- Develop educational seminar(s) and requesting CEU and/or certification points as required.
- Serve as liaison to assist members who are interested in obtaining certification and/or recertification.
APW Banquet
- Promote events for Administrative Professionals Week in April. Any event needs to showcase IAAP, the Blue Grass Chapter and its members. An individual budget must be apointed and presented to the board for this activity.
Newsletter
- Chairman shall serve as Editor In Chief. Committee is responsible for assembling and distributing the monthly newsletter. Newsletter is sent to the Webmaster for upload to the website.. Distribution targeted for the 5th of each month. Design, layout and content is at the discretion of the Newsletter Editor (Chairman). The Newsletter Editor In Chief will post an update to the Blog when the newsletter is uploaded to the website and ready for viewing. Participation in the Newsletter committee provides an excellent opportunity to stay abreast of all the chapter news and activities and get familiar with all members. This role may take approx. 5-6 hours per month.
Student Liaison
- Responsible for building/sustaining student members and/or student chapters. May be asked to sit on local college Advisory Boards as a result of involvement with the students.
WebMaster
- Responsible for the building/maintenance of the website for Blue Grass Chapter.
